William Aurthur Cooper was born in 1900. When he left school he worked as a mechanic at Billinghams Truck Dealership in Wolverhampton and being a hardworking and enterprising young man he also worked as a projectionist at a cinema in Whitemoreans during the evening.

By 1926 he had saved enough money to buy his first truck and he worked on contract to Midlands Counties Dairies collecting churn milk from local farms working 7 days a week.

Over 30 years W A Cooper Ttransport experienced steady growth and by 1956 when William Cooper died after a short illness, the fleet had grown to 6 trucks all contracted to the dairy.

Anthony Stanley Kay a pig breeder and green grocer married Beryl Dorothy Cooper, William’s eldest daughter, and took over the running of the business with no previous transport experience.

By 1960 W A Cooper Transport had branched out into general haulage and had started working for Ductile Steels.

Over the next 20 years W A Cooper built its fleet up to 50 vehicles and purchased and developed a 5 acre site at Coven Heath.

In 1978 Tony Kay sold his business and premises to the road construction unit and the M54 motorway was built through the Coven Heath depot.

In 1980 K Transport Services was formed by David Kay and George Freeman from a new site in Willenhall.

5 years later David’s brother Andrew joined the business when a 5 acre site at Slade Heath was purchased and developed and is still the company HQ with an additional depot at Wednesfield.

K Transport now operate over 80 vehicles and have more than 100 employees and are well positioned in the market place for continued growth and development.
